Applications and Value of Well Testing for Carbon Dioxide Storage Sites
In the context of understanding the deep subsurface and fluid flow within it, well testing is a comparatively old technology. To many people working toward the development of CO2 storage sites in saline aquifers, the methods for executing a good well test may not be obvious, with the analysis techniques applied to the data even less obvious. Well testing takes time and money to perform in the field, especially during the appraisal stage of development, and clear, precise results from a well test are not guaranteed. It is easy to understand why the benefits of well testing, in both the short and long term, may be overlooked and underprioritized.
