PCOR Partnership Outreach - Over a Decade of Activity
The Plains CO2 Reduction (PCOR) Partnership region covers all or part of nine states and four Canadian provinces with a total population of nearly 30 million. Since its inception in 2003, the PCOR Partnership has developed collaborations to provide outreach both at the regional level and in the vicinity of storage projects. Regional outreach has been accomplished through a Web site and original documentaries broadcast on public television as well as participation in educator workshops, library conferences, and decisionmaker forums to raise awareness among key audiences. These regional activities complement the community outreach efforts of PCOR Partnership partners and staff that focus on the communities and landowners in the vicinity of demonstrations and commercial projects. The PCOR Partnership provides outreach planning and tracking capabilities and an outreach toolkit featuring a regional atlas, DVDs of the documentary productions, fact sheets, presentations, general public posters, and the public Web site. To date, the PCOR Partnership has provided information on carbon capture and storage to the regional public through 404 broadcasts of five original documentaries on public television, placement of DVDs and regional atlases in 212 libraries in seven states and one Canadian province, and sharing materials and information with more than 1200 educators representing 656 schools in eight states. Partnership outreach activities are currently being expanded through the development of original online presentations for teachers in conjunction with public television. A sixth documentary is in production.View/Download Document
